Playoff Texas High School Football is here! A lot of great games to watch this weekend the one I will be covering is The Klein Cain Hurricanes vs The Bridgeland Bears.
Klein Cain received 1st possession. Both teams were battling it out, but neither team could get into the end zone until Bridgeland struck first to score kicking a 37-yard field goal. Klein Cain regained possession and Bridgeland’s defensive back Josh Matthews caught an interception the next play quarterback #1 Jett Lewis connected with #6 Oscar Nnanna for a 58-yard touchdown pass. Halfway through the 2nd quarter, Bridgeland scored two touchdowns before Klein Cain could score one making the score 24-0. However, Klein Cain kept fighting quarterback #18 Issac Mooring connected two touchdown passes to wide receiver #3 Blaine Bullard before the end of the half making the score 24-14.
Bridgeland received possession after halftime. Klein Cain’s linebacker #22 Miles Gibson recovered a fumble, giving back possession to Cain and the next play Issac threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver #1 Max Hendrick. Bridgeland kicked another field goal trying to maintain their lead, but Klein Cain regained possession and Issac rushed in for a touchdown finally taking the lead with a score of 28-27. Before the end of the 3rd quarter, Jett threw a touchdown pass to #5 Hudson Pollard and scored a 2-point conversion thanks to #16 Kendall Burns taking back the lead.
The score going into the 4th quarter is 35-28. Klein Cain scored early on in the quarter with a 1-yard rush touchdown from Issac. Bridgeland had possession but had to punt it back and on the 1st play, Issac connected with Blaine for a 94-yard touchdown pass. Bridgeland steadily drove the ball down the field, and halfway through the 4th quarter, running back #20 Noah Allen Cuellar punched it in for a 2-yard touchdown, tying up the game. With three seconds left in regulation, Bridgeland has possession and attempted a field goal, but unfortunately missed, which means the game goes into overtime.
Bridgeland started with possession 1st on the 20-yard line. Bridgeland easily scored with quarterback Jett on the carry now Klein Cain has a chance to answer back. Klein Cain also had no problems rushing it in for a touchdown with quarterback Issac on the carry. Klein Cain opted to go for the two-point conversion to finish the game and running back #21 Darius Rodgers punched it to win the game for Klein Cain with a final score of 50-49.
This was an exciting game. Klein Cain fought tooth and nail to come back from 24-0 and Bridgeland has been doing great the entire season it is unfortunate their season is officially over. The Klein Cain Hurricanes will proceed to round 2 in the playoffs against The Westfield Mustangs.
