On Friday, October 4th, the Lubbock Cooper Pirates traveled to Wichita Falls to take on the Legacy Leopards in district play. The Pirates are coming off a 30-17 win over Plainview and look to continue dominance as Legacy is still winless, coming off a 49-19 loss to Abilene Wylie.
At the start of the game, it was all Cooper as they racked up 20 points, and the defense shut the Leopards down as they were not able to answer all quarter. With Cooper starting fast on offense, they continued their dominance on both sides of the ball going into the second quarter. The Pirates were able to rack up 24 more unanswered points as the Leopards were still scoreless, being dominated by this Pirate defense.
Coming out of the half, the Leopards came out with a spark as they scored 14 unanswered points and shut out the Pirates’ defense going into the fourth as they tried to make a long stretch for a comeback. As both teams went into the fourth, Cooper was only able to rack up 7 points as the Leopard defense was still dominating. The Leopard offense was still hot but was only able to rack up another 14, unable to make the long stretch of a comeback.
Cooper wins 51-28.
Next week, Cooper will return home to take on Abilene Cooper, who is 1-5 this season, coming off a 29-7 loss to Abilene Wylie.
