Abbott showed no mercy Friday night, delivering its most dominant performance of the season in a 79-8 blowout win over Gholson. The victory not only evened the Panthers’ record at 4-4 but also marked their sixth consecutive win over the Wildcats — though Gholson managed to make this the most competitive matchup between the two in recent memory.
Abbott’s offense came out firing, piling up points early and often behind a relentless ground attack and an opportunistic defense that gave Gholson little room to breathe. By halftime, the game was effectively out of reach.
For Gholson, the loss continued a difficult stretch as the Wildcats fell to 1-8, now on a four-game skid. Despite the struggles, the team showed effort and resilience against a high-powered Abbott squad that has found its rhythm down the stretch.
Looking ahead, Abbott will meet rival Penelope at 7 p.m. Friday in a key district matchup, while Gholson will aim to rebound on the road against Coolidge at 7:30 p.m.
