Aledo Key Players and Storylines

The offense has just 322 rushing yards and 196 receiving yards returning from last year’s group. Still, head coach Robby Jones said the Bearcats will expect to run the ball as usual. That effort will lean on 6’0”, 225-pound physical running back Jeremiah Johnson and offensive lineman Grant Forman, who started all 15 games for the Bearcats last year.
When Aledo does throw the ball, keep an eye on versatile Colby Thompson. He’s got a big frame at 6’4” and can play both tight end and receiver. They also got a big addition in Division I prospect receiver Kingston Parks, who spent his junior year at Arlington Oakridge. As for the player throwing them the ball? The Bearcats got a big boost when three-star quarterback Tre Williams (2,504 passing yards and 29 touchdowns) transferred in from Lewisville over the offseason.
On the other side of the ball, Aledo has quite the one-two punch in the trenches with defensive tackles Tymon Meeks (96 tackles, 16 TFLs) and Omari Din-Mbuh, whose brother Ansel is a starter at TCU. Defensive end Max Forman (29 tackles, 7.5 TFLs) also brings some experience after starting six games last season.
Behind them, linebacker Cole Cox (106 tackles, 12.5 TFLs) is shifting from outside to middle linebacker where he’ll become one of Aledo’s biggest playmakers, while the Bearcats can lean on cornerback Jordan Hall and his sprinter’s speed to hang with playmaking receivers on the outside.
With so many new faces starting this year, Jones said he’ll need his young guys to “grow up quick,” especially in a program where winning is an expectation. After seven state titles in 12 years in 5A, the Bearcats have their eyes set on more gold this year starting with a District 3-6A title.
