Aledo Bearcats vs Lubbock Cooper Pirates Quick Recap

Round Rock Hail Roof Inspection

On Friday night, the Aledo Bearcats took on the Lubbock Cooper Pirates as the DFW area schools continued their dominance over West Texas playoff contenders.

The Bearcats’ star quarterback, Hauss Hejny, completed 12 of 18 passes for 126 yards and rushed for 106 yards, throwing for one touchdown and rushing for another one. The Pirates’ defense limited Hejny through the air, but he was able to connect with Kaydon Finley 3 times for 23 yards and a touchdown. Hejny also found Trace Clarkson, who had 5 receptions for 68 yards, and Hawk Patrick-Daniels, who tallied 2 passes for 32 yards while also rushing for 13 yards. While the Bearcats struggled through the air, they were able to claw their way through the Pirate’s defense on the ground as Ray Guillory rushed for 198 yards on 13 carries, scoring twice, and Davhon Keys rushed for 46 yards on 7 touches, scoring three touchdowns. With the offense putting points on the board early, the Bearcat’s defense had the pressure taken off as Davhon Keys led the team by racking up 12 tackles on the night.

Aledo won 48-31.

Next week, the Bearcats will continue their playoff campaign as they play Red Oak at an undermined neutral site. Red Oak is coming off a 35-28 win against Amarillo and remains undefeated. This match-up could determine who will advance to the state championship, as the battle of the undefeated Bearcats and Hawks will commence on Friday, 11/24.
