Aledo Dominates Abilene, Advances to Semifinals

On Friday night, the Aledo Bearcats faced off against the Abilene Eagles in round 4 of the playoffs at Tarleton Stadium.

The Bearcats started off hot and never stopped, with Hauss Hejny throwing for 203 yards on 12 of 21 pass attempts and scoring 2 touchdowns. Hejny also rushed for 100 yards and scored a touchdown on the ground. He connected with Trace Clarkson, who caught 2 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown, and Colton McCoy, who had 3 receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown.

Hejny also distributed to other targets, as Kaydon Finley caught 3 passes for 32 yards, and Hawk Patrick-Daniels had 2 receptions for 26 yards. As the aerial threat showed success, the Bearcats also moved the ball on the ground with Hawk Patrick-Daniels rushing for 82 yards on 11 carries scoring twice, Davhon Keys rushing for 31 yards on 5 carries finding the endzone 3 times, and Raycine Guillory Jr. rushing for 65 yards on 5 carries. Despite allowing 3 scores, the Bearcats defense shut down the Eagles’ offense, securing their advancement to the next round.

Aledo won 56-21.

Next week, the road to Arlington continues as the Bearcats take on the Forney Jackrabbits, who are coming off a 43-41 overtime win over Lancaster. Despite being down at the half, the Jackrabbits fought to the end and are looking to make a statement against Aledo in the semifinals.
