On Friday night, the Eagles traveled to McKinney Stadium to take on the Lions in a district matchup. The Eagles were coming off a dominant 38-21 win over Plano Senior the previous week, while McKinney, fresh off a bye, had secured a close 28-26 win against Plano Senior two weeks prior.
Both teams’ defenses started strong, with the Eagles forcing multiple three-and-outs, keeping the score tied at 0-0 in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Ethan Bowman kicked a field goal, putting Allen ahead 3-0. Shortly after, Brady Bricker connected with Josyah Johnson for a touchdown, extending the lead to 10-0. The Eagles continued to dominate defensively, with Lyndon Spriggs adding another touchdown, bringing the score to 17-0. McKinney’s quarterback Jeremiah Daoud finally answered with a 22-yard rushing touchdown, closing the gap to 17-7 by halftime.
In the second half, the Eagles continued their momentum. Bricker connected with Johnson again, making it 24-7, followed by a touchdown run from Jaden Hambric to increase the lead to 31-7. Bricker later threw a deep touchdown pass to Donnell Gee Jr. to extend the score to 38-7. In the final moments, McKinney added a late touchdown, but Allen’s defense had already sealed the win.
Eagles win 38-14.
Next week, Allen enters their bye week before resuming district play against Princeton. McKinney will face Princeton next, who is 1-4 after a 59-35 loss to Plano Senior.
