Allen Upsets Denton Guyer
The Allen Eagles (6-1, 3-0) are now the leader in District 5-6A after taking down Denton Guyer (7-1, 3-1) 38-31 on Friday night. It was Allen’s sixth win over Guyer since 2014.
Allen Defeats Denton Guyer
Allen’s defense gave up a whopping 501 yards of total offense to the Wildcats, but they made plays on defense when they had to, and were successful in the red zone.
Coming into the game, Guyer gave up just 16 points and 110 yards passing per game.
Eagles RB Jaylen Jenkins made his presence known on the very first play of the game, rushing for a 75-yard touchdown. Before you knew it, Guyer was down 24-14 at halftime.
Guyer did outscore Allen 17-14 in the second half, but it wasn’t enough.
Both teams combined for 993 yards of total offense and also combined for 151 penalty yards and 18 penalties.
Allen Eagles
RB Jaylen Jenkins rushed for 190 yards on 15 carries and scored three touchdowns, averaging 12 yards per rush. Jenkins now has 1101 yards and 17 touchdowns on the season.
QB Mike Hawkins passed for 129 yards and a touchdown (to Jacob Brasher) and rushed for 106 yards and a score. Hawkins completed 71% of his passes.
The Allen offense gained 23 first downs.
Denton Guyer Wildcats
QB Jackson Arnold led the Wildcats passing attack with 307 yards and 2 touchdowns. He completed 70% of his passes. Arnold now has 1970 yards, 16 touchdowns, and three INTs. He is completing 65% of his passes for the season with two weeks left in the regular season.
WR Grayson O’Bara caught 12 passes for 130 yards and 1 touchdown. He now has 50 catches on the season for 672 yards and 5 touchdowns.
WR Jace Wilson caught three balls for 53 yards and a score.
The Wildcat offense gained 30 first downs.
Allen hosts McKinney on Friday, while Guyer takes on McKinney Boyd on Friday.
