Allen’s District Title Hopes Dashed by Prosper

The Allen Eagles had dreams of winning a 16th consecutive district title when they faced off against Prosper on Friday night. Well, those dreams turned into nightmares as Prosper handed Allen their second loss of the season and held off a late rally by the Eagles to win the game 28-23.

Prosper Hands Allen its 2nd Loss of the Season

With the win, Prosper makes the playoffs for the seventh consecutive season and is currently on a three-game winning streak.

Prosper hand Allen Their 2nd Loss

Prosper QB Harrison Rosar went off on the Eagles, passing for 335 yards and three touchdowns. WR Tyler Bailey caught five passes for 130 yards and 1 touchdown and WR Hunter Summers caught nine balls for 124 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Prosper was held to less than 100 yards rushing, but it didn’t matter.

Allen was down quick at 14-0 but finally got on the scoreboard in the 2nd quarter to make the score 14-7. The Eagles scored again to tie the game at 14-14, then converted a field goal and took the lead into the locker room at halftime up 17-14.

It was the only lead of the game for Allen.

Prosper responded in the 3rd quarter by holding Allen scoreless for the period and added two more scores in the second half to take the lead at 28-17. Allen added a late score and the Prosper defense held off Allen to secure the victory.

Allen was led by QB Mike Hawkins, who passed for 256 yards and 2 touchdowns. RB Jaylen Jenkins rushed for 113 yards, but was kept out of the end zone. In fact, the entire Allen rushing attack was kept out of the end zone.

Allen LogoWR Jordyn Tyson caught four of Hawkins’s passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns. WR Cooper Cole added a receiving touchdown.

Allen Made Too Many Mistakes

Allen was not fundamentally sound either, committing 10 penalties for 85 yards. It was the first time Allen had two losses on their regular-season schedule since 2005. That was also the last time that Allen failed to win the district championship.

But, Allen (7-2) can still win the district championship if they can beat Braswell on Thursday. Prosper faces
