Tascosa’s Major Everhart picked off Lubbock High’s Jonathan Cisneros‘ pass on the very first play of the game and ran it back for a 32-yard pick-six as Tascosa led 7-0.

The Rebels scored again on their first offensive possession after the special teams blocked a Lubbock punt. Tascosa took advantage of the great field possession and scored on a 14-yard run by fullback, Joshua Splawn to give the Rebels a 14-0 early 1st quarter lead.

Major Everhart only needed one play on the Rebels’ next offensive drive to score. Everhart took the pitch and outran the Westerners’ defense for a 68-yard touchdown putting the Rebels score 21-0.

The Rebels’ defense continued to stop the Westerners’ offense, giving their own offense more chances to score. Running back Tayden Barnes added on to the Rebels’ lead after a 17-yard run.

Lubbock High’s next offensive drive resulted in another pick-six, as Brenyn Barnes ran it back 38-yards for the score.

The Rebels’ defense got one last stop before the end of the 1st quarter. Tascosa’s Everhart took the quick pass from quarterback, Javen Patrick and took it up the sidelines for a 40-yard touchdown putting the Rebels up 41-0 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Tascosa then substituted almost all of their offensive and defensive starters to start the 2nd quarter.

The second-team offense and defense picked up where the starters left off for the Rebels. The Rebels’ defense shut out the Westerners’ offense and the offense scored three more touchdowns in the 2nd. The Rebels were up big 61-0 at halftime.

The Rebels’ offense came out of the locker room and scored on their opening drive of the 2nd half. Wide receiver, Michael Ayalew took the take snap and scored on a 40-yard run. The Rebels later added two more touchdowns to their total for the game.

Tascosa looks to stay undefeated in district play as they play their cross-town rival, the Amarillo High Sandies next Friday night at Dick Bivins Stadium.

Lubbock High falls to a 1-5 record and 0-2 in the district. The Westerners look to get that first district win next week when they play their cross-town rival, the Coronado Mustangs next Friday night.
