SOUTHLAKE, Texas – The perennial power Allen Eagles will face yet another tough test against Arlington Martin. Both teams have a lot of confidence coming into this hot matchup. Arlington Martin has the only loss between the two teams who combine for 23-1.
The Eagles have had their share of close games this year including last week’s 28-14 win over South Grand Prairie. Four-Star quarterback Grant Tisdale was able to hit wide receiver Theo Wease for a late touchdown to give Allen the lead 21-14 before Arizona State commit Brock Sturges punched it in for the touchdown and the win.
Tisdale finished with three total touchdowns on just over 100 yards through the air and 48 more on the ground.
The Allen defense has been stifling of recent. Only giving up an average of 15 points per game in the playoffs so far.
Martin has one of the fastest offenses in the state with dual-threat quarterback Juma Otoviano. Otoviano was the running back in 2016 and is being recruited as so, has 26 total touchdowns on the year, 17 of those on the ground.
The Warriors also have offensive options as Brayden Willis, who took over as quarterback when Otoviano got hurt, has played in all 12 games so far, throwing for 521 yards and 4 touchdowns. In last week’s game against Odessa Permian, the offense rushed for more than 300 yards.
The highlight of the game though was when Permian fumbled the ball inside the Martin five-yard line for Jayce Godley to scoop it up and taken 95 yards for a score.
This one has all the potential to be a good one. If the Allen defense can slow down Martin, they should be able to run away with this one. However, if Martin can get their offense rolling, this could be close.
The game is Friday night at Dragon Stadium, in Southlake.
