Arizona State University has bolstered its football roster by signing Grayson Rigdon, a standout running back from Texas known for his exceptional high school career. Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 185 pounds, Rigdon led Columbus High School to a 15-1 record and a 3A Division I state championship in his senior year, amassing 2,071 rushing yards and 39 touchdowns.
Before his tenure at Columbus, Rigdon made a name for himself in six-man football, securing three state championships with Stran and Benjamin High School. His high school teams achieved a remarkable combined record of 59-1 over four years, with Rigdon earning MVP honors four times in state championship games.
In addition to his football prowess, Rigdon excelled in basketball, averaging 45.1 points per game as a junior, making him the nation’s leading scorer. He also showcased his speed in track and field, qualifying for state championships in the triple jump and as part of a relay team.
Rigdon’s commitment to Arizona State adds depth to a competitive backfield that includes Army junior transfer Kanye Udoh, junior returners Kyson Brown and Raleek Brown, senior Alton McCaskill, and redshirt freshman Jason Brown. The Sun Devils anticipate open competition among their running backs as they prepare for the upcoming season.
