The three-star running back chose the Badgers over offers from Bowling Green, Nevada and North Texas among others.
Watson proved to be one of the most consistent and bruising running backs for Austin Westlake in 2016. He finished with 1,626 yards and 22 touchdowns last season for the Chaparrals and earned a spot on the all-district first team.
Listed at 6 feet and 220 pounds, he could fit the mold of recent great running backs to go through Madison that include Ron Dayne, Montee Ball and James White.
Watson becomes the 11th commit for the Badgers in the Class of 2018 and the first from Texas. Per Jake Kocorowski of Bucky’s 5th Quarter, the Badgers could be in line for a big recruiting weekend and the commitment of Watson is seen as just the beginning.
