Friday night across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, teams experienced cold, drizzly conditions all night.
After a much anticipated game, Class 5A, Division II Denton Braswell faced a Princeton team that had already seen success in a tough District 7. The first half was a defensive battle as both teams struggled to move the ball with consistency.
Then, the drizzle stopped, the cold set in, and the Bengal’s high powered offense got rolling, while the defense stayed solid all night long.
As a result, it is official — the Bengals are underdogs no more.
Braswell clinched its first playoff berth in its young program’s young history with a 49-32 victory against the Panthers, and all eyes are now on head coach Cody Moore’s team as it enters the final two games of the regular season.
The Bengals are explosive on offense, and defensively, they’re sound, disciplined and fly to the ball, and next, they will be tested by Lake Dallas at home Friday night for senior night.
The final two weeks in District 7-5A, Division II are shaping up to be one of the areas best storylines.
All that remains is seeing where Braswell is seeded.
