Brawl Leads to More Security for 2 DFW Programs
Extra security measures will likely be put in place for two Texas High School squads. Two weeks ago, both Dallas Roosevelt High and Fort Worth Eastern Hills were in a brawl so ugly, that every single player was ejected. The game was called at 6:44 left to play when the squads began sparring on the field. Fans even tried to make their way into the brawl.
An individual filmed the fight from the bleachers and shared the melee on YouTube. Eastern Hills was eventually rewarded the victory.
All players from Dallas Roosevelt were suspended half game, forcing the JV unit to start. Eastern Hill will have to forfeit an upcoming game.
Dallas ISD said in a statement that the incident is still under investigation.
“The school and the local district executive committee are investigating and have the authority to impose penalties for involved students. The UIL will continue to gather information,” the statement said, as per USA Today.
Last Friday, Italy ISD made a request for extra police presence against Dallas Roosevelt High. Swarms of Italy ISD officers monitored the field from seemingly every angle. Once the game finished, announcers requested everyone vacate the premises immediately.
Dallas Roosevelt still hasn’t gotten a win and will travel to a non-district game against La Vega this Friday. Eastern Hills. Roosevelt is 2-1 and will host Kennedale this Friday.
