Brazoswood Key Players and Storylines

Brazoswood doubled its win total in year two under Eric Luster in 2025. Another jump in the win column would put them in position to earn their first playoff berth since 2022 as they face new competition in the Alvin, Pasadena, and Pearland schools District 19-6A.

With the personnel they have, improvement will be the expectation. Six starters are back on offense and ten return on defense.

Gone is last year’s first team all-district quarterback, but senior Jonus Edwards transfers in from Bay City, where he threw for 447 yards and six touchdowns, and will take the reins of the offense. The Buccaneers also must replace their starting running back and two leading receivers, but senior David Nunez (107 receiving yards) is a returning second team all-district fullback who can also split out wide when needed.

Defensively, safety Kieran Lunford (67 tackles) will lead from the back with his aggressiveness. The Buccaneers will also be stout in the trenches with nose tackle Chase Flores (34 tackles) and menacing defensive end Tyler Luna (32 tackles).

The Buccaneers don’t have a ton of depth with only 20 returning lettermen, but Luster said this is a group with a lot of athleticism and raw physical strength. That bodes well as the Buccaneers look to continue their upward trajectory and earn the first playoff berth for every player on the roster.
