Texas high school athletes’, coaches’ and fans’ worst nightmares officially became a reality Friday afternoon, when the University Interscholastic League cancelled all remaining activities.

The decision comes on the heels of Gov. Greg Abbott’s announcement earlier in the day that all public and private schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year.
No athletic activities have taken place since March 13, and there is no timetable for when practices or competitions may resume.
