Bronte Overcomes Odds To Get First Six-Man Playoff Win
Bronte makes good on first playoff appearance since turning six-man with win over Rising Star 36-20:
Head Coach Rocky Rawls and the Bronte Longhorns are defying the odds this postseason. After knocking off 32-point favorite Blackwell to secure a playoff berth in District 13-1A DIVII, the Horns knocked off 45-point favorite Rising Star with ball control and some stellar defense.
Leading the offensive charge was senior Jayton Galvan who completed 7 of 8 passes for 165 yards and ran the ball 8 times for 90 yards and 2 touchdowns. Spencer Smith had 14 carries for 70 yards and 2 touchdowns and Raymond Williams pulled down 6 catches for 105 yards. Raymond Williams, Jayton Galvan, and Joel Pena led the team in tackles for an impressive defensive performance.
The Longhorns look forward to another odds-defying effort as they match up with the undefeated Richland Springs Coyotes for the second round of the playoffs this Friday at 6:30 in Mertzon, Texas at Irion County ISD.
