Caney Creek Key Players and Storylines
Taylor Cobb knows how to win in Conroe ISD. He was the team captain of Oak Ridge High School’s 2002 state semifinal run.
Now, after Kendall Hineman took a job outside of education, he’s tasked with trying to invigorate a Caney Creek program that hasn’t won more than three games in a season since 2010.
The good news? Both his staff and his players are bought into the motto “The Creek is rising.” They are determined to get better one day at a time heading into 2026.
Offensively, they have a sturdy foundation with three returning linemen headlined by 6’2″, 260-pound junior Trenton Charping. The receiving corps has some serious juice with Power Four prospect Amarien Hughes and versatile senior Janse Boisselle. At quarterback, the Panthers also have experience with multiple players that saw playing time a year ago.

Defensively, the Panthers will lean on the secondary with playmakers safety Valentino Lira-Smith and cornerback Zach Ziglar. In front of them, Kaleb Marshall can do a little bit of everything. The Panther coaching staff expects his biggest impact to come at linebacker with his 6’4″, 185-pound frame.
The Panthers may not have a ton of depth, but they certainly have some energy around the program. They know building a program isn’t something that is done overnight. They’ll aim to compete every Friday night as they look to improve upon last season’s win total.
