In a commanding 57-15 win, the Southlake Carroll Dragons overpowered the Flower Mound Marcus Marauders. Defensive lineman Dustan Mark stood out, notching three sacks and scoring on a fumble return in the third quarter.
The first half was relatively close, with Marcus trailing just 14-12. Nevertheless, the second half saw Carroll’s offense catch fire. Sparked by Mark’s touchdown off a fumble, the Dragons unleashed five consecutive scoring drives. During this offensive surge, quarterback Graham Knowles contributed two rushing touchdowns and passed for another.
Knowles, committed to Georgia Tech, ended the game with stellar stats—15 completed passes for 203 yards and a passing touchdown, in addition to his rushing scores. Running back Davis Penn complemented this with 123 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns, contributing to Carroll’s total offense exceeding 500 yards.
While Marcus had moments of promise—quarterback Dane Parlin threw for 205 yards, and Karic Grennan scored on a lengthy reception—they were largely stymied in the second half, gaining a mere 18 rushing yards.
Marcus falls to o-2. They travel to Euless Trinity next week. The Euless Trinity Trojans are also 0-2, having suffered two close losses, 41-42 to Propser in their season opener, and 24-31 last week.
Maintaining their winning streak, Carroll advances to 2-0 for the season. Their high-octane offense proved insurmountable for Marcus. Looking ahead, the Dragons are focused on sustaining their momentum as they approach district play. They face Cedar Hill next week. The Cedar Hill Longhorns are 1-1, coming off a 33-2 win over Arlington Martin.
