Cedar Hill and Desoto Close Their Season in Epic Clash to Determine District Supremacy

From players such as Von Miller, Jalen Mills and Zach Orr to Demarcus Lodge and Cameron Buckley, the yearly “Battle of the Belt Line” match up between Cedar Hill and Desoto has seen many of Dallas Fort Worth’s greatest athletes on each sideline competing in high stakes games, and the 2019 addition will be no different.

Cedar Hill will host Desoto on Thursday night with a chance to clinch sole possession of the 7 6A District championship with a win over their cross town rival.  The Longhorns come into the game riding a seven game winning streak after beginning the season 0-2 in route to a 7-2 record (6-0) in district.  They are led by #17 ranked Duel Threat Quarterback Junior Kaidon Salters who has passed for 2,005 yards and accounted for 28 total touchdowns.  His tandem of backfield mates: Corie Allen and Kevin Young have combined for 16 touchdowns on the ground.

Desoto has a chance to clinch a share of the district title with a win Thursday night.  They come in with a record of 8-1 (5-1) in district.  Their only loss came on a one point defeat in a rainy Thursday night match up against Mansfield Summit which saw multiple weather delays.  The Eagles are led by Junior Samari Collier, who has thrown for 2,004 yards and 27 touchdowns this season.

Since 2013, both teams have split the last 6 games evenly, with Cedar Hill winning by a score of 195-135.  The teams have accounted for 3 state championships between them since that time.  With the playoffs looming in the distance, we shall see if Thursday nights victor will be able to carry that momentum into the much anticipated 2019 playoffs.
