The Cedar Hill Longhorns have not one but two senior game changers at running back this year. Marquise Forman and Kaegun Williams form a dynamic duo which force opposing defenses to respect the run game of the Longhorns.
According to stats by Maxpreps.com Cedar Hill has a total of 410 team rushing yards on the season which averages out to 136.7 yards per game as a team. Their opponent this week, the DeSoto Eagles, as a team have rushed for 1,050 yards on the season which averages out to 350 rushing yards per game.
Needless to say Cedar Hill with the combination of Williams and Forman as dangerous as they are, have yet to break out and produce the numbers these two are capable of especially when you compare them to the running game of DeSoto. But this week could be the game where we see the Forman/Williams punch have its coming out party and exploit a possible weakness in the well-tuned machine that is DeSoto.
DeSoto on the season has let up an average of 201 rushing yards on defense. When Midland played DeSoto they ran for 199 yards, allowed 220 rushing yards against Denton Guyer and 184 rushing yards against Dallas Jesuit. Marquise Forman has ran for 193 yards this season and five touchdowns while Kaegun Williams has ran for 143 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Between the two they account for 56 attempts with Forman accounting for 35 and Williams 21.
In this game last year, Cedar Hill defeated DeSoto 26-2 on the strength of their run game. The team total for rushing yards was 342 with three rushing touchdowns that night. Forman had 14 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown while Williams had 102 yards and a touchdown as well.
So for Cedar Hill to be able to battle DeSoto and their offensive antagonist Shawn Robinson, I believe the run game will have to have be able to exploit the DeSoto defense. If any team was able to do it then Cedar Hill would be the team to be able to.
Forman and Williams are perhaps the best duo in the state and if they had any intent on solidifying that then they could possibly begin come this Friday when Cedar Hill and DeSoto write another chapter in their rivalry.
