Cibolo Steele Key Players and Storylines
Cibolo Steele had an agonizing end to its 2025 season, falling to San Antonio Johnson by a single point in the regional semifinals.
With 12 starters from that team, there’s no need for any additional motivation. The Knights are determined for an even deeper playoff run this fall.
It all starts with a high-powered offense that averaged over 41 points per game last season. Quarterback DJ Green (2,081 passing yards and 29 touchdowns) is back at the helm and he’s got his favorite target in speedy slot receiver Jamin Harvell (884 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns) at his disposal again. Running back Marshall Kenner (511 rushing yards and eight touchdowns) will lead the ground game, and there’s no doubting his physicality after he earned all-district honors at linebacker last season. He’ll have 6’4”, 295-pound tackle Stephan Hicks Jr. to help pave the way in front of him.

Defensively, the Knights have a bona fide star in safety Eli Johnson, an Ohio State commit. Fellow defensive back Michael Johnson III (43 tackles) has great size at 6’4” and never shies away from a big hit, while cornerback Alex Patton will help bolster the boundary after moving in from Aledo. In front of them, the linebacking corps will also be a strength with last year’s leading tackler junior Pike Kempe (117 tackles, 13.5 TFLs) headlining that unit.
Aside from some inexperience on the defensive line, it’s hard to pinpoint much of a weakness for the Knights. Back-to-back third round appearances would be a huge accomplishment for most programs, but with a special senior class, Steele won’t be satisfied unless the Knights are playing December football in 2026.
