Can a Houston-area team win a small school state title? East Bernard won in Class 2A in 2012. La Marque is always a threat to go deep, especially now that it has dropped in classification. Hitchcock is drastically improving and could surprise.

East Bernard’s new leader: Can former assistant coach Wade Bosse keep it rolling as East Bernard’s new head coach? The Brahmas have won 17 playoff games in the past six seasons, including six in 2012 en route to a 2A state championship.

Will everybody win again? Coldspring has been aligned into a district with five teams that had winning district records last year. That should mean strong district depth and tough games most weeks.
