SMU isn’t getting left out of the Texas recruiting arms race. In fact, they’re jumping right in, and Clear Lake DB Cameron Phillips is their sixth commit.

The Falcons went 3-7 in 2016, only pulling off victories against Fort Bend Clements, Alvin, and Clear Falls. Clear Lake is expecting to rally for the 2017 season, though, and a big part of that rally will include Phillips.
SMU had an up and down season. There were some low spots, like getting beat 3-33 by hated rival TCU. The bright spots were very bright though, the Mustangs thumped a favored Houston team, 38-16. Like Clear Lake, they’re expecting to rally and have a big 2017 season.
