Clear Lake Key Players and Storylines

Clear Lake’s one win in 2025 was the fewest the Falcons have had in a season since 2011. The response has been evident. Second-year head coach Jason Ward has seen his players “attack this offseason with purpose, determined to improve upon last year’s performance.”

He feels pretty confident they will be rewarded in the win column this year, but it’s going to take some sophomores stepping into big roles including do-it-all athlete Zaedrian Lewis. He can play receiver or quarterback and is one of those guys who can “make you miss in a phone booth.”

When Lewis isn’t behind center, it will be senior quarterback Cooper Jackson (891 passing yards and five touchdowns) leading the way. He’s the unquestioned leader of the Falcon offense. He’ll have physical, 6’3”, 280-guard Mark Breaux leading efforts on the offensive line in front of him.

Defensively, the Falcons have to improve on the 51 points per game they gave up a year ago. Their captain, linebacker Luke Pullig (71 tackles), is back as is rangy outside linebacker Luke McInnis. They’ll provide the Falcons a sturdy base while safety Terrell Stinson is a bona fide stud on the back end. He just transferred back from Hitchcock after earning District Newcomer of the Year honors there in 2025. Ward also expects him to play some offense too.

With Barbers Hill moving up from 5A, Ward said District 18-6A will be “competitive from top to bottom.” Still, he believes if his guys can avoid big mistakes and have a couple of breaks go their way, they could be in the mix for their first playoff berth since 2018.
