Coach Fired After Just 3 Months

Roof Replacement from Austin Commercial Roofers

Just over two months after his hiring, TLCA San Angelo’s head football coach, Paulo Gonzalez, has been dismissed. The school district announced the decision on September 5th, stating that Athletic Director Kent Sherill and Offensive Coordinator Jonah Masters will assume head coaching duties for the rest of the season.

We first learned of the news from Ryan Compeau on Twitter via this tweet:

Gonzalez coaches San Angelo TLC Academy Eagles in week one. The Eagles lost their opener to Ozona, 14-65. They bounced back, reportedly with Gonzalez not on the sideline, with a 27-24 win at Odessa Compass. They face Winters on the road on Friday.

*Correction: This article initially stated that Gonzalez had been the Head Coach for 2 months. It has been corrected to 3 months.
