Converse Judson Key Players and Storylines
It has been an unusual down stretch for a Converse Judson program that tends to be one of San Antonio’s strongest teams. The Rockets have had five-straight seasons under .500, although they still have managed to make the playoffs in four out of those five years.
Heading into 2026, Vernon Hughes from Mesquite Horn takes charge after Mark Soto stepped down.
The Rockets return several key players on their offense as they look to improve upon last year’s 18.5 points per game. Quarterbacks Dominique Davis Jr. (622 passing yards and three touchdowns) and Joseph Dimando (127 passing yards) both saw playing time a year ago, while running back Kayden Graham (618 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns) will spearhead the rushing attack again.
6’5″ junior receiver Jaymaree Bowens , a four-star prospect, will be tough for any opposing secondaries to handle. Up front, 6’3″, 295-pound junior offensive lineman Chad Wagner will be among the leaders on the offensive line.

Defensively, defensive end Equan Thompson is the lone returning all-district player. Behind him, safety Demario Alexis is looking to build off a promising sophomore season while linebacker/safety Myles Wisdom (53 tackles) brings plenty of energy and should be a playmaker across the field for the Rockets.
Before Horn, Hughes had great success at Weiss, winning 17 games in two seasons. He knows what it takes for a program to be successful, so don’t be surprised if he gets Judson back on track especially with talent back on both sides of the ball.
