The new-look Cuero Gobblers are beginning to come together.
After recently undergoing a head-coaching overhaul, Cuero welcomed in former Copperas Cove and Ennis coach Jack Alvarez to take over the program.
Now, Alvarez’s staff is taking shape with the addition of a head-coach caliber applicant, according to @DavidSmoak.
I just spoke with Tom Dracos, AD/FB coach at Cumby High School who told me he is leaving to become Asst. AD/OC under Jack Alvarez at @GobblerFB. #txhsfb

Tom Dracos guided Cumby since 2013, when he accepted the job — his first head coach position.
The Trojans went 8-4 last season, reaching the area round of the Class 2A, Division II playoffs. It was the team’s best showing since 2016, when it went 9-3 en route to area round.
Now, he will look to help Alvarez revive the Gobblers.
Cuero won the Class 4A, Division II championship two years ago but suffered through a 3-7 season in 2019 and failed to make the playoffs.
