Cy-Fair Key Players and Storylines
There will be some new competition for Cy-Fair this year as the Bobcats return to Region II for the first time since 2009, when they were in 5A. They’ll be ready to give their new opponents a crash course in offensive fireworks.
Quarterback Sean Riegler (2,868 passing yards and 29 touchdowns) is the reigning District MVP and the undisputed leader of the Bobcat offense. He has great size and talent in his receiving corps with 6’2″ Minnesota commit Kevin Ferrygood (863 receiving yards and seven touchdowns) and fellow 6’2″ senior Henry Brooks Jr. (971 receiving yards and nine touchdowns), who is also a Division I prospect. Up front, guard Paolo Arrellano is a mammoth in the trenches at 6’3″ and 310 pounds. He’s also coming off a first team all-district season.

While the offense grabs the headlines, the Bobcats are strongest on defense at linebacker with Drayton Hawkins (79 tackles, 14 TFLs) dominating the edge and Luis Bustamante as a returning all-district honorable mention in the middle.
After back-to-back 7-4 seasons, Jeff Miller and company will be determined to make some strides in the playoffs. They did make it to the state quarterfinals in 7-on-7 over the offseason, so this is a team that has already has momentum. Look for the offense to cause opponents headaches as the Bobcats look to make their presence felt in Region II.
