Former Texas Tech and current Washington State head coach Mike Leach added another commitment from the Lone Star State on Friday as Cy-Fair cornerback Erick Hallett announced his verbal pledge to the Cougars.

Hallett chose Washington State over offers form Memphis, Nevada, Southern Miss and Tulane among others. He becomes Commit No. 14 in the Class of 2018 for Wazzu and the second Texan alongside athlete Gatlin Grisso of Aubrey. Per the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Hallett is a Top-100 prospect in Texas.

The senior was a first-team all-district selection last season for Cy-Fair, who finished 2016 with 26 tackles, six pass deflections and four interceptions. The 5-10 corner was also one of the primary punt and kick returners for the Bobcats last season and will look to continue to make that impact again in 2017.

Cy-Fair is scheduled to open their season on September 1 at The Woodlands.
