Cypress Falls Key Players and Storylines

Cypress Falls soared a year ago, earning its first third round playoff appearance since 2015. There’s reason to believe this year’s group can be just as good if not better.

The core of last year’s team is back with seven returning starters on both sides of the ball. Brister and his staff will have plenty of senior leadership to lean on.

However, on offense, it’s all about the juniors. 6’2″ offensive linemen Keaton Foreman and Kingston Jones-Johnson are both coming off all-district seasons. They’ll pave the way for strong, physical running back Deron Simpson (1,178 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns), who also has great catching ability when called upon. He might be the star of the show, but junior quarterback Christian Nduijiba is just as reliable after throwing for 1,697 yards and 21 touchdowns as last season’s starter.

If you’re looking for a receiver to steal the show, Andre Lewis (504 receiving yards and seven touchdowns) is your guy after averaging 29 yards per catch in 2025.

Texas State commit Liam Madkins will likely contribute at receiver (154 receiving yards and three touchdowns), but he makes his presence felt in the secondary with his ability to tackle in space (67 tackles and six INTs). Up front, good luck to opposing tackles. Texas A&M commit defensive end Kaden McCarty (51 tackles, 26 TFLs) and 6’1″, 225-pound defensive end James Harris (68 tackles and 23 TFLs) are both “tenacious” off the edge.

There will still be some younger players asked to step up this year, but this Cypress Falls team has no shortage of potential. They’ll expect to bring home a district title in a new look District 16-6A before embarking on what they hope is another deep playoff run.
