At the 2026 THSCA Coaching School and Convention, Texas HS Football Editor in Chief KP Kelly sat down with Roscoe athletic director and head football coach Dan Loyd at the Hudl booth. Loyd is entering his second season with the Plowboys after spending 11 years at Seymour, including three as athletic director and head coach. He said his goal at Roscoe has been to preserve the program’s reputation for toughness, resilience, and grit while building on its established culture.
Roscoe finished 3-8 in Loyd’s first season and now enters 2026 seeking progress in Class 2A Division II. The Plowboys play with a small-school roster built around athletes who often contribute on both sides of the ball. Loyd believes the team’s work ethic and leadership can help Roscoe take another step forward.
Hudl remains central to Loyd’s preparation. He said the platform saves coaches time, streamlines film review, and gives players immediate access to evaluate themselves. He also praised newer tools that combine multiple camera angles and make analysis faster.
For Loyd, coaching is about more than results. He values the camaraderie of his staff and the opportunity to help young athletes become tougher, more prepared people.
