Returning Lettermen: 23 (8 returning starters on offense; 8 on defense)
Del Rio Key Players and Storylines
It’s a fresh start for Del Rio after a winless 2025 campaign. Mission Sharyland offensive coordinator Daniel Infante takes over the program, looking to inject some life into a team that has won just five games total the past three seasons.
He’ll be bringing a brand new offense to a program that ran the ball on 75% of plays last year. He has a great foundation to build on in the trenches with 6’3”, 265-pound tackle Damian Guerrero and guard Diego Hernandez, who will be expected to open up running lanes this fall.

The Rams don’t return a quarterback with a passing attempt from last season, so the playmaking ability of receiver Santiago Ortiz will be big. He’s an electric player when he has the ball in his hands.
Defensively, Del Rio is going to be physical and experienced with eight returning starters. It all starts with “sideline-to-sideline” linebacker Matt Abrego (96 tackles) and safety Jose Garcia, who doesn’t hesitate on coming downhill to contribute to the run defense (100 tackles). Infante also expects senior linebacker Marcus Garcia to play a big role this year with both his run defense and his discipline in coverage.
The Rams struggled to find the end zone last year, scoring just 89 points in ten games. Infante will expect that to change this fall as his staff aims to develop their players and compete for a playoff spot down the stretch.
