Del Valle Key Players and Storylines
Del Valle heads into 2026 following its first full offseason under head coach Colin Williams. He’s seeking to turn things around at a Cardinals program that hasn’t finished .500 since 2019 and hasn’t had a winning record since 2009.
The offense took a hit from graduation, losing a 1,200-yard rusher. However, they do return junior quarterback Trevon Hill-Lias (535 passing yards and five touchdowns) and running back First Green (309 rushing yards and four touchdowns) showed flashes in limited touches a year ago. Out wide, Gavynn Patina (177 receiving yards and one touchdown) is poised to step into the number one receiver role this year.

The question marks offensively lie in front of Hill-Lias after the Cardinals graduated four offensive lineman who either earned all-district honors or an honorable mention.
Defensively, safety Isaiah Haws (84 tackles) is the player to know as the Cardinals’ leading returning tackler. The Cardinals should also be able to generate some pressure in the front seven with the trio of outside linebacker Derek Diaz (66 tackles, nine TFLs) and defensive ends Isaiah Ramirez (52 tackles, nine TFLs) and Axel Prado (41 tackles, three TFLs).
Williams will know that turnarounds don’t happen overnight. Last year, all five of Del Valle’s district losses came by 27 points or more. The Cardinals will hope the foundation laid in Williams’ first year will begin to pay off as they look to become increasingly competitive in 26-6A.
