Denton Ryan Standout Austin Jordan Ditches UT for TCU
Former Denton Ryan DB Austin Jordan has committed to TCU via the NCAA Transfer Portal. He still has two years of eligibility remaining.
Under head coach Sonny Dykes, Jordan will stay in the Big 12 conference for the 2024 season. For those keeping count at home, Jordan is the Horned Frogs’ third post-spring transfer portal addition. He joins former Houston and Katy defensive tackle Hakeem Ajijolaiya and former Alabama and All Saints Episcopal offensive lineman James Brockermeyer.
In 25 games across two seasons, the 6’1, 200 lb. totaled 11 tackles and a single interception in his tenure with the UT Longhorns. Most notably, he blocked a PAT for a two-point conversion in a 26-16 victory over Iowa State on Nov. 18.
As a recruit, Jordan fielded 20 offers and selected the Burnt Orange over Oklahoma, Miami, Notre Dame, and others.
A three-time all-district honoree, Jordan played both offense and defense for Denton Ryan, totaling 24 solo tackles, two interceptions, and a forced fumble as a senior. In his last season, he was part of a Raiders defense that allowed 13.7 points per game, leading the team to a 12-2 overall record and an appearance in the 5A Division I quarterfinals.
Wanting to face less stringiest competition for spots, notable Longhorns that have also entered the transfer portal include former Grand Prairie running back Savion Red, former Little Elm cornerback Terrance Brooks, and former Duncanville linebacker Kendrick Blackshire.
