DeSoto Alumni Von Miller Facing Assault Charges
As DeSoto continues chugging away through the playoffs, one of its most successful graduates is now embroiled in controversy. An arrest warrant was issued for Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller on Thursday in Dallas. According to the police statement, Miller allegedly assaulted his pregnant girlfriend and left before officers arrived. Miller is facing third-degree felony charges for throttling the victim for a reported three to five seconds. A police spokesperson claimed the arrest warrant is active, meaning Miller not currently in custody.
Officers learned that Miller and the alleged victim were arguing, when Miller abruptly assaulted her.
Miller, a two-time Super Bowl champion and former Super Bowl MVP, was previously investigated by Colorado police for texts in which he allegedly threatened to give his ex-girlfriend a miscarriage.
The Bills in a statement said: “This morning, we were made aware of an incident involving Von Miller. We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this point.”
The former District 8-5A Defensive MVP with DeSoto, Miller continues to be an active part of his community, including hosting a community festival in his hometown; the 6th annual Von Miller Day took place this April.
Last season, the eight-time Pro Bowler signed a six-year, $120 million contract with the Bills. In his career, he has 123.5 sacks.
After blowing out Willis, Miller’s alma mater DeSoto will take on Cedar Hill Saturday.
