DeSoto, SMU WR James Proche drafted to join Baltimore Ravens’ offense

The Baltimore Ravens stuck with the program of selecting former Texas High School Football stars on Saturday by drafting SMU wide receiver James Proche (DeSoto) with the 201st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Proche joined a Ravens team that finished 14-2, but failed to win a playoff game.

Prior to selecting Proche, the Ravens selected Texas Tech defensive lineman Broderick Washington (Longview) with the 170th overall pick in the draft on Saturday. Baltimore also drafted Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins (La Grange), Texas A&M defensive lineman Justin Madubuike (McKinney North) and Texas wide receiver Devin Duvernay (Sachse) in this draft.

Other notable former notable Texas High School Football alums on the Ravens roster include defensive backs DeShon Elliott (Rockwall-Heath) and Earl Thomas (West Orange Stark) and kicker Justin Tucker (Austin Westlake).

Proche had a career season with the Mustangs finishing with 1,225 yards and 15 touchdowns on 111 receptions as a senior. ESPN rated him as a 4-star prospect coming out of Desoto.

In Round 6, the Carolina Panthers took Baylor defensive lineman Bravvion Roy (Spring) with the 189th overall pick and the New York Jets selected Texas A&M kicker Braden Mann (Cypress Fair) with the 191st pick.
