Duncanville Beats South Oak Cliff for Sixth Straight Year

Tom Thumb - DFW's Grocer Since 1948

Duncanville is one of the most dominant programs in Texas, having competed in five state championships over the last six years. Their winning ways are a puzzle South Oak Cliff can’t seem to figure out.

For the sixth year in a row, the Panthers defeated the Bears 34-midnight on Friday at Kincaide Stadium. In total, over their last six meetings, Duncanville has outscored their opponent to a combined score of 233-68 by an average margin of victory of 27.5 points.

Although South Oak Cliff seemed game in the first half, keeping the score narrow 21-12, the Bears had no answers for the Panthers in the second half.

South Oak Cliff exhibited their frustrations in the fourth quarter, nearly taking five-star Alabama pledge Keelon Russell’s head off. Junior  Kordae Houston committed a face mask infraction that tore his helmet off the Duncanville senior’s head. Russell wasn’t rattled, simply checking for blood, before resuming play.

Russell finished with 325 yards and five touchdowns, improving his career record to 30-1 since the start of the 2022 season.

Oregon commit Dakorien Moore grabbed nine passes for 119 yards and a touchdown, while three-star junior WR/TE Zach Turner secured two touchdown passes.

At 0-2, South Oak Cliff won’t be any easier next week in a non-district tilt at Longview. Still, all hope isn’t lost for the Bears. The team overcame slow starts in the last three years to reach the state championship games, respectively.

Duncanville will host St. Frances Academy at Bill Savage Athletic Complex.
