One of the key returners up front on defense for Duncanville has decided to stay in the DFW Metroplex for his college career. On Wednesday, defensive tackled Terrance Newman announced via Twitter his commitment to SMU.

The senior lineman chose the Mustangs over offers from Navy, North Texas and New Mexico State. He becomes Commit No. 17 in the Class of 2018 for SMU.
At 5-11, 282 pounds, Newman presents himself as a tough matchup at front with his size. He was an important part of the Panthers defense and was a first team all-district selection from last season. With the offense losing nine starters from last year’s regional finalist team, he’ll be counted on even more to produce for head coach Reginald Samples and Duncanville.
The Panthers open up their 2017 season on the road at Plano East on September 1.
