Last Season: 12-2; 6-1 in district (Lost to North Shore in 6A Division I State Title Game)

Duncanville Key Players and Storylines

Unsurprisingly, Duncanville was back in the state title game a year ago. The Panthers have made at least the state semifinals every year since 2018. In six of those eight seasons, they’ve played for a state title.

The Panthers appear ready to turn to Maximus The Great Denson (1,157 passing yards and 17 touchdowns) at quarterback after sophomore Bryson Kennedy was ruled ineligible. Denson will have quite the team around him. Purdue commit receiver Trenton Yancy (780 receiving yards, 388 rushing yards) is a do-it-all standout, while 6’4″ sophomore Jairus Ingram is the next star in the making in the receivers room. In the running game, the Panthers have a strong one-two punch to lean on in senior Robert Singleton (553 rushing yards and seven touchdowns) and junior Brayden Arnold (429 rushing yards and six touchdowns).

In the trenches, Duncanville always has size and this year is no difference. On the offensive line, 6’5″, 295-pound senior Aiden Williams and 6’3″, 305-pound junior Kendrick Harris will lead the way. Defensively, 6’4″, 300-pound nose guard Janero Welch will clog up running lanes.

Behind him, McNeese State commit linebacker Gatlin Cryer (96 tackles, nine TFLs) will lead Duncanville’s tackling efforts alongside versatile linebacker Yusuf Adegbite (87 tackles, 11 TFLs). In the secondary, senior cornerback Jonathan Barnes (35 tackles and two INTs), a UCF commit, can be the Panthers’ trusted lockdown guy while sophomore cornerback Riley Lewis is the next up-and-comer to watch.

The Panthers do have a lot of production to replace defensively, but the talent just keeps on coming through the pipeline. This year’s team looks like a typical Duncanville squad which means the Panthers will expect to be playing their final game at AT&T Stadium again this fall.
