Durham Leads Duncanville to State Final

Make It Movement - Discover Your Purpose

Caden Durham might be the MVP of this year’s Texas high school football playoffs.

The LSU-bound running back led his team with 225 yards and five touchdowns in Duncanville’s 52-10 victory over North Crowley last Saturday. This is a remarkable achievement, especially considering North Crowley’s defense had been allowing only 86.1 yards per game.

Durham has consistently excelled throughout the playoffs, notching 200+ yards and five touchdowns in a game more than once. He amassed 220 yards and five touchdowns against Rockwall-Heat in the area round win and achieved 323 yards and one touchdown in the regional semifinals against The Woodlands. Durham has now rushed for over 100 yards in 10 consecutive playoff games, accumulating a total of 1,840 yards and 34 touchdowns in these matches.

North Crowley, with an average of 55.6 points and 520.1 total yards, was outmatched by a Duncanville defense that leads area 6A schools in total defense (187.2 yards per game) and run defense (83.9 yards per game). After consistently scoring 40+ points in nearly every game, North Crowley was held to just 68 total yards in the first half.

A year after their first state title since 1998, North Shore will face last year’s UIL 6SA D1 opponent, Duncanville, in the state championship next week. Duncanville has the opportunity to become only the second Dallas-area school to win back-to-back state titles; Allen is the other, having won three consecutive titles from 2012-2014.
