Eagles End Hornets’ Streak, Spoil Homecoming

Summit Christian 60 – Lometa 12

Following their best start since 1984, Lometa had high hopes entering week 6 of the
season. Unfortunately for them, the Summit Christian Eagles had other plans. Summit
entered the game as 11 point favorites, only the second team to be favored over the
Hornets so far this season. Lometa’s special teams woes continued for the second
week in a row, when the opening kickoff was returned 78 yards for a score. After
Summit gained the lead early, Lometa fell behind, struggling to garner any serious
momentum down the stretch. Enrique Prado rushed for a season low 64 yards and 2
touchdowns, which would be the Hornets only points of the contest. Lometa also had
trouble hanging onto the football, turning over the ball 4 times, with one fumble being
returned by the Eagles for a defensive touchdown. Overall, Lometa knew that playing
this caliber of team would be beneficial to improve their gameplay, and potentially be a
launch pad for future weeks. Lometa (4-1) will host Paint Rock next week as their final
Non-District contest. Summit Christian (2-0) will play Fredericksburg Heritage (0-1) to
open District play.
