A big storm that rolled through southeast Texas this week caused a lot of damage, including at East Bernard High School Memorial Stadium. The stadium stands collapsed during the storm, as reported by the Wharton County Constable’s Office—Precinct 2 on Facebook. There were no injuries.
The stadium is home to the East Bernard Brahmas. The 3A DII Brahmas went 8-3 last year, bouncing back from a 3-7 record in 2022. They are a program that sometimes flies under the radar, but they are a very strong program. The losing record in 2022 was a rarity. The Brahmas had gone 9-3, 8-2, 14-1 and 13-2 in the years before that. The Brahmas have made it to the state title game 3 times, winning it twice. With 41 playoff appearances, the Brahmas are a program always capable of making a playoff push.
Let’s hope the repairs happen quickly so the fans can pack the stands this season.
