Edinburg North Key Players and Storylines

Edinburg North won just one game in Rigo Morales’ debut season, but the Cougars were likely left wondering what could’ve been. They finished last year 0-4 in one-score games.

They averaged just over 26 points per game, and return their offensive leader in senior signal-caller Jorge Trevino (2,021 passing yards and 18 touchdowns). He returns a big target in 6’2″, 255-pound tight end Vincent Cano, who is a returning second team all-district honoree. Up front, center Omar Ozuna and tackle Anthony Guzman were both all-district honorable mentions last season, while sophomore Tristan Sanchez is a player to keep an eye on in the trenches.

Defensively, the Cougars will be looking for improvement after giving up 34 points per game a year ago. They can lean on the leadership in their secondary with Ryan Perez at cornerback and Evan Fuentes at safety.

Heading into 2026, the Cougars will have the benefit of having a full offseason under Morales. This year will all be about finishing down the stretch as they look to turn those close losses into victories.
