Elliot was issued a six-game suspension last week by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell per violation of the league’s personal conduct policy. Goodell will have Harold Henderson as the designated hearing officer for his appeal. Henderson was the officer that reduced Dallas Cowboy defensive end Greg Hardy’s suspension in 2015 from ten games to four. Elliott’s suspension has also led to some fierce interactions between the NFL and the player’s union via Twitter.

NFL vice president of communications Joe Lockart released a statement via Twitter per Brian McCarthy, directed towards their players that suggest the NFLPA has been, “spreading derogatory information to the media about the victim in Ezekiel Elliott discipline case,” that received some backlash from the NFLPA.
The NFLPA retaliated with a statement towards the NFL that goes as far as saying, “They should be ashamed for stooping to new lows,” and that “We know the League office has a history of being exposed for its lack of credibility.”

While Elliott and his team prepares for the hearing date, it seems as though a larger battle is about to take place as the NFL and its players are coming at odds with one another.
