Flower Mound Key Players and Storylines

Basil doesn’t expect the Jaguars to be in that valley for long. He loves both the chemistry and discipline he has seen from this year’s team.
Offensively, the Jaguars will benefit from an experienced backfield. Dual threat quarterback Baron Sampson (2,128 total yards and 15 touchdowns) will be expected to put up big numbers again this year, while running back Slate Dettweiler is a proven downhill rusher. Up front, 6’3”, 255-pound guard Luke Carter will be the leader in the trenches.

Defensively, linebacker Chase Alves (113 tackles, 22 TFLs), a three-year letterman, is the type of playmaker every defense needs. Expect to see defensive end Brady Magill (21 tackles, 5.5 sacks) in the backfield plenty too. In the secondary, cornerback Braden Guard has “tremendous instincts” both in coverage and against the run.
Making the jump back into the playoff conversation won’t be easy after the Jaguars had four district losses by 31 or more points last season. However, Basil believes if this team can buy into being the hardest working team night in and night out, they’ll give themselves a shot to be in the discussion down the stretch.
