One of Allen’s dynamic backfield duo in the backfield has found himself back in the Dallas area. As reported by Michael Florek of The Dallas Morning News, former Allen running back Kirby Bennett has officially transferred to Frisco Lone Star and will be eligible to play this season for the Rangers.

Bennett had transferred from Allen to powerhouse Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas shortly after the end of the 2016 season. However, the senior running back was dismissed from the program in June. The nature of the dismissal was not disclosed but head coach Kenny Sanchez told NevadaPreps.com at the time, “I’ll keep it in-house, but he kicked himself off the team basically.”
Last season, Bennett split time in the backfield with Arizona State commit Brock Sturges, rushing for 808 yards and six touchdowns in 2016. The senior is a three-star prospect who holds more than 40 offers, including from Arkansas, Colorado, Florida State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and UCLA among others.
Frisco Lone Star head coach Jeff Rayburn told The Dallas Morning News of Bennett, “It’s been a good fit so far. He’s been great for us. He’s worked really hard. He’s bought into our team concept. I really like what he’s doing right now.” He is projected to play alongside rising junior DJ Smith (475 yards, 9 TDs in 2016) in the backfield for Frisco Lone Star.
The Rangers open the season at home against Frisco Heritage on September 1.
