Former John Jay Receiver Recovering From Shooting

Austin Roof Inspection

Nine days after he was shot twice, former John Jay wide receiver Josh Reynolds was seen on the Denver Broncos sidelines, observing his team’s 28-14 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Reynolds is currently listed on injured reserve with a “finger injury”. In reality, the 29-year-old wide receiver was shot in his arm and the back of his head leaving Shotgun Willie’s strip club in Glendale, Colorado on Oct. 18.

The team has since described his wounds as “minor injuries”.

So far, two men have been arrested in connection to the shooting and are being investigated for attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.

Within five days following the incident, Reynolds was back at Denver’s first practice, working with other injured players for the three practice sessions leading up to the Carolina contest.

Reynolds will likely return from IR in Week 10.

“Definitely a crazy situation where we could have lost one of our teammates in an incident like that,” Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles told 9News in Denver. “I love Josh. I’m super close to him. I don’t want to say too much on it because I know it’s up to the authorities here in Denver and let them handle the situation and hopefully justice is given to the people who were involved in the incident but I’m just thankful.”

The victims said there were no issues inside of the club.

As a Texas high school football alum, Reynolds played wide receiver and safety for the Jay Mustangs. As a senior, he hauled in a total of 44 catches for 667 yards and 48 tackles with three interceptions. As a three-star recruit, Reynolds opted to go the JUCO route after high school, signing with Tyler Junior College. A year later, he was picked up by Texas A&M; he currently holds the Aggies’ season receiving touchdown record with 13, set in 2014.
