Wilson, Buckeyes open season with blowout win over Huskers
Garrett Wilson and the Ohio State Buckeyes finally kicked off the season and looked every bit like a playoff contender in a 52-17 home win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday.
The win helped Ohio State (1-0, 1-0 Big Ten) jump from No. 5 to No. 3 in the latest Associated Press College Football Poll after beating Nebraska (0-1, 0-1).
The former Austin Lake Travis star caught seven passes for 129 yards and a touchdown on Saturday.
He had a 42-yard touchdown reception that put Ohio State ahead early 14-7 late in the first quarter. Wilson also had two punt returns for 23 yards.
Wilson caught 204 yards for 3,359 yards and 55 touchdowns at Lake Travis.
Ohio State has an early test on Saturday with a visit to No. 18 Penn State (0-1, 0-1) at 6:30 p.m. on ABC.
